Rodney, Ahmor, Rosemarie and Cristina Orr

This morning as I walked Cristina to school, I was so amazed at the beauty of my surroundings. The grounds are nearly covered with leaves and the remaining leaves on the trees have wonderful shades of autumn colours. Even the sheep in the fields looked so content, happy and well fed. To top it all a rainbow appeared right in front of us. Awesome view! I felt so privilege to be living in this part of the country☺.

As I (Ahmor) write this letter, Rodney is in Scotland with his team taking meetings at different churches and events. They are doing a lot travelling in between meetings, so they would really appreciate your prayers for their protection and for good health.

It is hard to capture everything that had happened since our last newsletter but here are some of the highlights of our summer and the things we are up to now. We continue to thank God for His amazing love, protection and provision to us.

R O D N E Y

We had a very packed but enjoyable summer. In between ministry commitments, we also managed to have a family holiday. It was great to see our family and our church in Northern Ireland. What a joy to see many familiar faces at the church and to get to meet new ones too. It was a special time.

Some of the highlights of our summer were our time in Germany at Teen Street and Rosemarie’s time in Holland, but I’m sure you will read more about them later on. As for me, it was a good experience to get involved in the Bangor Convention in N. Ireland. OM was given a big slot as it is our 50th Anniversary this year. George Verwer spoke on the Youth event and gave a challenge to a deeper commitment to Jesus.

As we started a new OM year in September, I also got my new presentation/recruiting team. I have a team of 4 people: 2 boys, Juan (Colombia) and Alfonso (El Salvador) and 2 girls Nuzhat (Pakistan) and Ravina (India). As you can see we are truly an international team. Already, we have been up and down the country taking all sorts of meetings. All of my team, apart from Nuzhat will be going back to their country in December. Please pray that their short time here with us (and with me) will be a life-changing experience.

A H M O R

As you can imagine, I am holding the fort here on the home front whenever Rodney is away. It is not always easy for me because Rodney is away quite a lot. It is exhausting! (I’m sure; you mothers out there could sympathize with me on this☺) So, please pray for me as I need wisdom and patience in dealing with all the challenges of being a mother. I continue to work in the OM office while the kids are in school, and this provides me the adult conversation I needed to keep me sane!

◙ “The Crew”- Due to our 2 leaders quitting before the summer our start date was delayed this term. But after much prayer, meetings and consultations, we decided to start again on the 12th November. I share the leadership of the club with 3 other Christians in the village. We will continue to call it the “Crew”, under the umbrella of “The Crusaders” for insurance and other legal purposes. We are hoping to get 20-25 children (8-11 years old) every week. Please pray for us as a team and for the kids.

◙ Ladies Bible Study- We still meet regularly and at the moment we are studying the book “Captivating” by Stasi Eldredge. It is a fascinating study. This term we have lost 2 ladies on the group; one has moved house and the other just stopped coming. Please pray that this Bible Study group will continue to be a blessing to all the ladies who attends it.

◙ “Purpose Driven Life” book- Our church has started a Wednesday meeting to study the book together. It is so encouraging to see ¾ of the congregation attends the study. We try to go as much as we can, although at times it is a challenge to get a “babysitter”—any volunteer?

C R I S T I N A

I had a swimming party for my 10th birthday. It was so much fun. I was also happy to get my birthday money which I put towards the ipod that I have been saving up for… and I am nearly there!! ☺☺☺

Mummy asked me to write about the best bits about our summer holiday. Well, first we went to Teen Street in Germany and it was great. I did things mainly on my own because it was such a huge place and mum and dad were busy looking after their teams. Also it was hard to spot them in a crowd of 4,000 people. I really enjoyed my time because I met new friends and we were free to walk around on site on our own. I can’t wait to go back next year and see my friends again! Then we went to Northern Ireland and there I met our cousins and we had lots of fun together. We also had a sleepover at our cousins’ house. Most of the time we just chilled out.

ROSEMARIE

I had the best summer ever! My time at Teen Street in Germany was fantastic. I have met my best friend Bethany again. She was a year older than me so she was a participant and I wasn’t but that didn’t matter because during the week we were inseparable. There were around 4,000 teenagers at Teen Street and it was amazing to see this sea of people worshipping God together. It made me realised that being a Christian is not boring but it is fun.

After that, I went to MTO (Missionary Teens Only) in Holland for one week. The teen-agers are all OM kids and they come from different parts of the world. Wow, it was a brilliant experience! I was a participant this time and it was great to be involved in all the activities. There were only around 120 of us there so it was a smaller group, and I got to know people a lot better. Bethany, my best friend was also there and we just had a ball. Everyday was full of fun
activities and we didn’t really want it to end. We also went to a theme park and tried some of the rides. MTO is a lot better than I expected. I will definitely come back next year!

Then in September I went camping with my church youth Alpha for a week-end. Again I had a brilliant time.
