“For you know
that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold
that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to
you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of
Christ, a lamb with blemish or defect.” (1 Peter 1 v 18 & 19 NIV)
Dear praying
friends
We want to begin again by thanking you for all your help and
support, prayerfully and practically as we work and serve the
Lord here in Woolwich, Southeast London
We really do thank the Lord and appreciate all of you who have
stood with us in the gospel ministry in this a very needy place.
Well we are just back from holiday having had three weeks in
Northern Ireland and it was great to see our families and many
friends too. It was a great chance to rest and be refreshed for
coming back to Woolwich and a great chance to get some quality
family time.
Our boys are all fine, although Joel our second son has broken
his arm and is in a cast. They are heading back to school soon
and not looking forward to that, although once there, they
generally enjoy it and get on well. They still support the best
team in the world ‘Liverpool’ and are keen footballers
themselves.
Please pray for our children that God would save and keep them
and watch over them all of their lives.
Now that we are back its time to get on with the job.
Please pray for us as we begin afresh to look into opportunities
regarding the building work. As I reported in the church (Abbots
Cross) our building work fell through about 2 months ago and so
we are once again looking at different options that we might
have as a fellowship. Please pray for wisdom and guidance and
for the church to make the right decisions in the coming weeks
and months. Pray again with us that we might know the Lord’s
provision in a new building. In the mean time we continue to
meet in a local school on Sunday mornings and in another
evangelical church throughout the week. Please pray that even at
this time and in these two places we might grow as a church.
Please remember and pray for the church vision which is
* To have a new building
* To be self sustaining financially
* To produce new deacons and potential elders
* To effectively reach out into the local community
Please pray that we as a church would always be striving to be
the church that God wants us to be!
Please pray also for the first up and coming gospel mission in
November. The dates are the 27th, 28th & 29th. There will be a
children’s mission and an adults mission running at the same
time. Pastor Chris McKinven will speak at the children’s mission
and Pastor Wes McNabb will speak at the adults mission. Pray for
the church to be busy making contacts, building relationships
with local people, praying and planning for this wonderful
opportunity, and pray that God would come among us and save and
change many lives.
Pray for Aaron as he seeks to fulfil his role as pastor - As he
seeks to lead the church, to preach and teach God’s Word, and as
he pastorally cares for the people of God. Pray for Him as he
leads services, as he heads up the music group, as he works with
the young people, as he manages the football team and as he
begins a new initiative among the men. Pray that he might do all
things well. Please pray that others will get around him to help
and support him in all these ministries and that they would take
on responsibilities from him too. Pray especially for him at
this time as he begins a series on the seven churches in
Revelation 2 & 3 and for the church as they carefully and
prayerfully examine themselves and seek to change in the light
of what God might say to them. Pray always that in everything we
do, that we might do it to honour and glorify the Lord.
Pray also for Margaret as she heads up the women’s ministry this
year, as she takes an active part in the women’s home group, as
she continues to teach a Sunday school class every other week,
and as she continues to work for the London City Mission in one
of their outreach cafes in Covenant Gardens. Pray that God would
give her the strength she needs to do all these things as well
as continue to look after us four boys at home. Pray also that
God would use her effectively to reach into the lives of the
women in our church and that they would grow in faith and
godliness.
Please continue to pray always while we are here, that God would
be pleased to visit us in revival. That He would come and revive
His church afresh, that the believers would be set on fire for
Him and for His cause on earth, that many unbelievers would come
to know Him in a personal way and so His kingdom on earth would
furthered and his church built and blessed.
Once again, know how grateful we are for your faithfulness
towards us and for your support. Please don’t give up but
continue to stand with us and so be a real part of what God is
doing in this part of His world.
May the Lord Bless you all
