Dear friends,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I don’t take for granted
your interest in what’s going on here in Mozambique.
Here’s what’s been happening over the past few months:
I was able to make a short visit home to Northern Ireland at the end of
February. It was the first time in two years that I’d been back so it
was great to see my family and friends. From there I went to Egypt for a
two week language learning consultant course. Next stop was Portugal to
spend some time meeting with the three families in Portuguese language
study there that are all planning to arrive here in early August. One of
the couples is good friends of mine that I know from NTM training so I’m
looking forward to them getting here. In all I was five weeks out of
Mozambique and by the end of it I was looking forward to getting back
here. Thank you for your prayers during my travelling. Nine airports and
no lost luggage, nice!
At the end of April we had our NTM conference at a place about 5 hours
south of Nampula. The topic for the week was “The Lord is my Shepherd”.
The past year has been a difficult time for our field so we were looking
forward to spending some time all together and the Lord used it to
encourage and challenge us. On the last morning we had a scare when one
of our colleagues had to be rushed to hospital with cerebral malaria. A
doctor here said he’d never seen someone’s blood with so many malaria
parasites in it and another day without medicine would’ve killed him.
Thankfully the Lord healed him and now he’s back in the USA for a few
months taking a break and trying to build his strength back up.
In May I was away again on a two week language consultant trip to a few
of our village works. We praise the Lord for the progress that is being
made! The tribal languages here are extremely difficult so please pray
for those learning them, not only here, but around the world. The three
of us on the trip all came back with some sort of virus but we’re
getting over it.
The Lord continues to bless and encourage me, teach me knew and old
things, answer prayer, and prove His faithfulness time and again. I can
only praise His name and say HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!
Thank you for your continued prayers & support. They enable me to be
here and I appreciate the part you’re playing in this ministry. Please
stay in touch and let me know how I can pray for you too.
In Christ,
Stephen
