projectromania

I recently went on a short term missionary trip with Project Romania working with the Reverend Norman & Linda Patterson. The objective of Project Romania is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in practical ways and to show the love of God to those in need.We were based in a village to work on extending a building that provides amenities for the 300 Romanian gypsies. The team primarily worked on renovating this building, plastering, digging foundations and putting up security fencing etc. Whilst these were my main duties I also had the privilege of getting alongside the local people and their children. It was evident that they had veryRoma Gypsies little in terms of mod cons, they lived in nothing more than a mud hut with Polystyrene roofs and mud floors and when the heavy rains come it washes away their homes and they have to build all over again. They have no running water they have to use the local river which is polluted. If they want clean water they have to get it from a well but there is a charge that many cannot afford. Some of the children cannot go to school as they have no clean clothes and many just play in the street just running around semi naked. When the building is finished it will be used to wash, feed and clothe these needy people and to also provide some basic education and to share the gospel with them.

While thinking about their basic earthly needs of washing, clothing and feeding, the Lord gave me 3 verses that challenged me about their spiritual needs and what he can do for all who believe:

serveoneanotherWashing: Ephesians Ch.1 V7 – In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Clothing: Isaiah Ch 16 V10 – I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Feeding: 1st Peter Ch 1 V23 – having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

I trust that these verses will encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, the One who gives us live, who sustains us and who will meet our every need.
